This weekend it’s the semi-final of the Tesco Cup. Cardiff & District have two teams who have made it to this stage and they have avoided being drawn against each other. St Albans have a tough away fixture to Pencoed, while Rhiwbina are at home to Tir y Berth. Good luck to the teams. Perhaps we will see an all-Cardiff final.
In the A Division, Fairwater play Whitchurch, a fixture that will be repeated in two weeks time in the semi-final of the Cardiff & District cup. Last week both teams came back from being 2-0 down at half-time to win 3-2, so both will fancy their chances. Marlboro Black and Pentwyn will both be looking to bounce back from their respective 3-2 defeats but will not find it easy. Ty Celyn notched up their first win last week, while Rhiwbina White have adapted well to life in the A Division.
Perhaps the league fixture of the day is Butetown agains Caerau Ely, the top two in Division B. Just two points separate the teams. A Butetown win will see them stretch their lead by five points, while a Caerau win will see them leapfrog Butetown. Meantime, third place Pentyrch will be hoping a win against Grangetown will move them closer to one of the top two. And next week it will be Pentyrch’s turn to take on Butetown, while Caerau Ely have a bye. It will be interesting to see how the B Division looks next week.
In Division C, in-from Dragons are away to Grange Quins. A win will see them close the gap on Marshfield who are without a game this week.
